My newest sculptural pieces are just out of the kiln! I have spent
a long time developing this new style and am pleased with the results. I throw
the piece on the wheel and keep the walls fairly thick so that I can do a heavy
relief carving. I use various trimming tools and fine dental tools for the
detail. They are glazed with a red or brown iron oxide wash, fired to 2167
degrees F., and finished with a post-firing clear coat. No two pieces are
alike and every firing has different colour variations.
I sincerely hope you enjoy these new pieces as much as I love
to make them.
