Bio:
I was born in Quebec, Canada and raised in British Columbia. I moved to Los Angeles in 1975 to attend the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising. Upon graduation, I made Los Angeles my home with my husband, Jeff. For many years I made my living as a software consultant to the legal industry. In my spare time I created and designed wedding dresses.
My passion for pottery was discovered at the hands of master potter, Tony Campbell, in St. Eustache, Quebec. There was an instant love and connection between me and the clay. I established my studio in the serene hills of Fallbrook, CA where I create both wheel thrown pottery and also my pine needle sculptures. I have now added jewelry design to my repertoire. I enjoy working and creating with a multitude of colours and shapes of beads.
For 7 years I was an 'Artist@Sea' teaching pottery to passengers on Princess Cruises. My work was greatly influenced by living on land and on the sea. The natural balance of living at sea and on land created a unique and ever-changing creative environment.
Statement:
I am constantly changing my direction when it comes to my work. I feel a need to experience every possible medium that I come across. It is the adventure and the learning process that I crave.
My artwork is my passion and through it I aspire to reach out to people and pass along this passion. I create pieces that welcome touch as well as eye appeal. There is no greater pleasure in art than knowing that my work goes from my hands to people's homes; to be displayed, enjoyed and used.
(Tony and her husband, Ian, now live in Picton, Ontario where she has established her new studio. I will always be grateful for her assistance and patience)
